SpaceXAI and Cursor launched Grok Bot on 11 August 2026 — persistent AI agents with their own cloud computer that sign into your apps and finish the work. Here's what it actually does, what it costs, and the security line nobody is quoting.
Grok Bot Is Here — And It Logs In As You
There is a line in SpaceXAI's own Grok Bot documentation that almost nobody covering this launch has quoted. We will get to it. But first, the thing itself — because it is genuinely a shift, and pretending otherwise would be dishonest.
On 11 August 2026, SpaceXAI (the division of SpaceX formerly known as xAI) and Cursor launched Grok Bot in early beta. It is not a chatbot. It is a set of persistent AI agents that get their own computer, sign into your existing tools, and carry multi-step work all the way to finished — checking in with you only when a judgment call is needed.
The industry has spent three years shipping assistants that produce a draft and stop. Grok Bot is part of a category that does not stop.
What Grok Bot actually is
The mental model is not "an app you open." It is closer to onboarding a colleague.
You create a named Bot, give it a job, and give it access to the tools that job needs. From then on it exists — with its own memory, its own files, and its own logged-in sessions — until you tell it otherwise.
Its own cloud computer. Each account gets a persistent Linux environment in the cloud with a real browser, a real terminal, and a real filesystem. The Bot does not simulate using your software. It uses it.
It keeps working when you don't. Because the environment lives in the cloud rather than on your machine, you can close your laptop mid-task and the work continues. This is the difference that matters most in practice, and it is the one people underestimate until they have felt it.
It remembers. Files, tool settings, browser logins and context persist across conversations. You are not re-explaining your business every morning.
Bots talk to each other. A research Bot and an email Bot share the same environment, message each other, pass documents across, and coordinate without you sitting in the middle routing traffic.
You teach it by doing. Record your screen performing a task once. The Bot turns that sequence into a reusable routine and runs it on demand or on a schedule, absorbing your corrections over time.
That last feature is the one that changes the economics of small-business operations. Most of the work that eats a founder's week is not difficult. It is repetitive, and it has never been worth the cost of hiring someone to do it. A system that learns a task by watching it done once removes the setup cost that has kept automation out of reach for small teams.
What it runs on
The wider rollout runs on Grok 4.6, released 12 August 2026 and built specifically for long-running agents — multi-step work that needs sustained execution and self-verification rather than a single clever answer. TechTimes reports API pricing starts at $2 per million input tokens and $6 per million output tokens for requests under 200,000 tokens, with a premium on long context.
One notable gap: as VentureBeat points out, the launch materials do not identify which models the internal router selects, and there is no documented way to pin or switch models. For casual use that abstraction is a feature. For a production workflow where you care about cost, latency and consistent behaviour, it is a real constraint.
What it costs
There is no free tier. Access is bundled into three existing subscriptions:

For an Indian small business, the entry point is roughly ₹10,000 per seat per month at the cheapest tier and around ₹25,000 per month at the top one. That is not a trivial line item, and it is the honest reason most readers of this post will not be running Grok Bot this quarter.
Now the line nobody is quoting
Here is the part that deserves more attention than the feature list.
Grok Bot's agents do not connect to your tools through APIs with scoped permissions. They log in as you. And every Bot on your account shares the same cloud computer — and the same set of logins.
SpaceXAI's own documentation is refreshingly candid about what that means. As reported by Barchart, the docs describe Bot screens as "work surfaces, not separate security boundaries."
Read that again in the context of a real business. Your invoicing Bot and your social-media Bot are not walled off from one another. They are windows onto one machine that holds every credential you have handed over. There is no isolation between them because isolation was never claimed.
Three further things are worth knowing before anyone gives this system a password:
The documentation defers questions of data handling to Cursor's published security documentation and privacy policy, rather than answering them directly.
Independent coverage notes there is no published architecture or safety documentation yet, and that early testers found simple tasks partially completed — one newsletter-unsubscribe run left some subscriptions in place. Verification is still your job.
It is an early beta. SpaceXAI says so plainly. Treating it as production infrastructure is a decision you are making, not one the vendor has invited.
None of this makes Grok Bot a bad product. It makes it an early one. The distinction matters, and the launch coverage has largely collapsed it.
What this actually means for your business
Strip away the price tag and the beta label, and the pattern underneath is the real story. Agents that own a persistent environment, hold their own logins, and remember what they have already done are not a SpaceXAI feature. They are where the whole category is heading, and the capability will land in tools ordinary businesses can afford far faster than the current pricing suggests.
Which raises the practical question: what do you do in the meantime?
The answer is not to wait. It is to get the unglamorous groundwork done now, because the businesses that benefit fastest from agents will be the ones whose processes are already written down, already connected, and already producing clean data.
Concretely, that means:
Document the repetitive work before you automate it. The teach-a-task model rewards businesses that know exactly how their own processes run. Most do not. Writing down the ten tasks that eat your week is genuinely the highest-leverage hour you will spend this month — and it costs nothing.
Automate the deterministic parts today. A large share of what people imagine needing an autonomous agent for is a scheduled workflow: lead capture into a CRM, follow-up sequences, invoice reminders, report generation, comment and DM handling. Tools like n8n handle this reliably right now, at a fraction of $300 a month, with no credentials sitting in a shared VM.
Keep credentials scoped. Where you do connect AI to your systems, prefer proper API access with limited permissions over handing over a full login. This is a habit worth building before the agents arrive, not after.
Put a human in the approval loop. Every serious deployment we run keeps a person between the AI's output and the customer. Grok Bot's own early testing is a good argument for why.
