A Solar Savings Calculator That Qualifies the Lead For You
An interactive calculator that turns a homeowner's electricity bill into a sized system, a subsidy-adjusted price and a payback period — so the enquiry that reaches sales is already qualified.

Rooftop solar in Kerala is a long, technical sale. A homeowner wants to know one thing — what will this cost me and when does it pay for itself — but the answer depends on their bill, their roof size, which way it faces and how much shade it gets. Getting that answer used to mean a phone call and a site visit, which is a lot of friction to put in front of someone who is only browsing. Worse, it burns the field team's time on visits that were never going to convert.
Our Approach
We moved the first half of the sales conversation onto the website. The calculator had to be genuinely useful rather than a lead-capture form wearing a calculator costume, so it models the things that actually change the answer — bill, roof area, orientation, shading — and recalculates live as the visitor moves each slider. It also does the part homeowners find hardest: netting off the PM Surya Ghar subsidy so the number on screen is what they would really pay.
What We Built
A visitor sets their monthly bill, available roof area, roof direction and shading level. The calculator returns estimated monthly generation, units exported back to the grid, monthly and annual savings, their bill after solar, system cost, the PM Surya Ghar subsidy deduction, net investment, payback period, 25-year lifetime savings, and CO₂ avoided expressed as trees planted. By the time someone requests a free site survey they have already sized their own system and accepted the price — so the team is visiting buyers, not browsers.
See It Running
Recorded from the live product — not a prototype.
